Altalink is Alberta’s largest regulated electricity transmission company. The Chapel Rock to Pincher Creek Area Transmission Development includes a new 240 kV transmission line between 41 and 46 km long. The project connects a new proposed substation to be called the Chapel Rock Substation to either the existing Goose Lake Substation or Castle Rock Ridge Substation which are both located north of Pincher Creek.
TrueView™ photo simulations were developed using the engineering details lodged as part of the submission to ensure that the project was understood by all interested parties. An interactive web portal was also developed so that the TrueView™ photo simulations could be easily shared on the project website and at open house events. This portal includes the ability to see what the proposed structures would look like under a brown finish and a galvanized finish. Additional GIS layers can be toggled on and off depending on what the viewer is interested in.
In addition to the interactive viewer a video has been compiled that cycles through each of the viewpoints which includes the finish options.
Altalink is now able to solicit meaningful feedback from all parties based on factual TrueView™ simulations that everyone understands.
